Eph senior captain Alex Smigelski and freshman winger John Wickman each tallied two points, while senior goalie Marc Pulde stopped 35 shot attempts in an impressive shutout win over the conference rivals.

#23 TCNJ knocks #2 Ephs out of NCAA tourney
In a season that began with expectations of besting last years Final Four appearance, and winning the programs first NCAA Championship, the second-ranked Williams womens soccer team saw their bid fall short. The College of New Jerseys Allyson Anderson scored at the 64:56 mark to push her squad past the previously undefeated sectional host, 1-0. The Ephs finish their season at 19-1.

New Haven, CT - The Williams squash teams travelled down route 91 last night for their first match of the season against Yale. While the Lady Ephs fought valiantly, in the end they were overmatched by the No. 5 ranked Bulldogs, as Yale prevailed 8-1.

Edgar Kosgey and Peter Farwell collect USTFCCCA New England Regional Honors Again
Sr. Edgar Kosgey, the first male 3-time winner of the NCAA New England Qualifier since the race began in 1978, was named the USTFCCCA's N.E. Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row. Head coach Peter Farwell earned his second straight USTFCCCA N.E. Region Coach of the Year award.

MEDFORD, MA - After four intense games, the Williams College Volleyball team (23-8) won the semi-final match of the NCAA Regional Tournament by defeating UMass-Boston 3-1 (25-16, 15-25, 25-21, 25-22). The Williams tandem Kate Anderson (Berlin, Mass.) and Nicole Ballon-Landa (La Jolla, Calif.) were named to the All-NESCAC First Team for the second year in a row. Junior setter Emily Avis was selected to the All-NESCAC Second Team.

Ephs win third consecutive NESCAC Championship
Top-seeded Williams defeated third-seeded Middlebury, 3-2, in a highly-contested NESCAC Championship at Cole Field in Williamstown this afternoon. The win marks the Ephs third consecutive conference championship, as the Williams womens soccer program remains the only team in conference history to have won consecutive titles.

Ephs have shot at NESCAC co-championship after defeating Wesleyan 34-7
Thanks to another impressive defensive effort and some timely offensive conversions, the purple and gold remain in the win column for the fifth week in a row as they pulled away from the Cardinals late in their homecoming game for the road victory. Williams football will have a chance to play for the NESCAC championship against undefeated arch-rival Amherst next weekend, as well as the Little Three title.

Ephs fall to Tufts in Semifinal, 3-0
HARTFORD, CT. Williams upset Middlebury last Sunday to prove themselves worthy of Saturdays semifinal competition against Tufts, but couldnt top the Jumbos in the race for Sundays Championship game. Tufts outscored the Ephs, 3-0, to clinch their position in tomorrows NESCAC championship against Trinity at 12PM in hopes of improving on their second-place finish in 2008 against Bowdoin. Most recently, Williams was runner-up in the 2005 championship game against Bowdoin, and has won the title three times in the last 9 years.

Senior tri-captain Nick Caro has a career day at Weston Field, tying the program record with three touchdown receptions in a blowout win for the red hot purple cows. Senior WR and captain Nick Caro is back on the field after suffering a serious injury in last year's win over Hamilton. He was told he would never play again. He disagreed and his teammates and family loved and supported him so he could finish up as a playing captain.

With a 1-0 defeat of NESCAC opponent Middlebury (10-2-2, 7-2-0) this afternoon, Williams womens soccer (14-0-0, 9-0-0) closed out a perfect regular season with 14 wins and zero losses in their 2009 campaign. Sarah Walmsley scored at the 87:41 mark to put the Ephs ahead by one, and preserve their unblemished record.

SCHENECTADY, NY. Union College improved their record to 7-7 after defeating the Ephs (5-7) in Wednesdays non-conference match-up, 2-0. Williams offense suffered a lack of intensity in the absence of senior captain Anne de Saint Phalle (Bronxville, NY) who is recovering from an injury. Despite the loss, the Ephs look to challenge Tufts Saturday and improve upon their 5-2 NESCAC standing.

Womens soccer tacked another win onto their impressive undefeated season in a mid-week evening road win, bringing their overall record to 12-0-0. The Ephs defeated non-conference opponent Keene State, 3-0, in their ninth shutout victory on the year. Keene State falls to 11-5-1 on the season.

Ephs Conclude Fall Season on High Note
After a strong fall season, which included an individual regional championship in singles, a runner-up finish in doubles, and a 2-1 record in match play, the Ephs concluded their season today with another title in Holyoke. Caroline Capute 12 and Veranika Li 13 won a pair of matches to claim the championship of the B-draw at the New England womens intercollegiate tennis tournament.

Williams and their league-leading defense held a convincing 30-7 lead with under 10 minutes left in the third quarter, but the Panthers and their league-leading offense came storming back in the second half to cut the 23-point lead to 3-point advantage by the middle of the fourth quarter.

Brunswick, ME. Despite a strong performance by Eph goalie Katrina Tulla (New Canaan, CT) and a number of good shot opportunities in the opening and closing minutes of the competition, Wiliams didn't play with the same intensity as Bowdoin Saturday afternoon at Howard F. Ryan Field. The Ephs managed to keep the two-time national champs to a single goal scored seven minutes into the second half, but were unable to contact net to overtake or challenge the Polar Bears in overtime.

Plansky Invitational showcases athlete debuts and alumni
The crisp fall air and bright sun made for a gorgeous day of racing at Mount Greylock High School, where alumni returned to run among current Ephs and former teammates on Saturday. In the women's 6k race, RPI cruised to victory, winning with 24 points and beating out Connecticut College (32 points) by 8 points.

Ephs dominate Bowdoin, 4-0
Williams (7-0-0, 11-0-0) wasted little time in asserting their dominance over conference opponent Bowdoin (6-5-0, 3-4-0), scoring just twenty-six ticks after the opening whistle. The Ephs would tally another two goals in the first twenty minutes of play for a considerable three-goal first half lead, before closing out the game by a 4-0 margin.

The Ephs headed east to Bostons Franklin Park on Saturday for the Division I New England Cross Country Championship, where the Varsity women finished 7th out of 49 teams. Ephs win Little Three title, defeat Amherst 3-0
Third-ranked Williams (8-0, 4-0 in the NESCAC) traveled to fourteenth-ranked Amherst (5-2, 3-1), handing the Lord Jeffs a 3-0 loss to give the Ephs a one-up in the all-time series at 14-13-8 and preserve their undefeated record.

The top two teams in the nation from last season met today in Williamstown. Last May, Williams defeated Amherst in the NCAA finals to take the title. Today, the Lord Jeffs enacted a measure of revenge, beating the Ephs on the road 6-3.

Williams Volleyball Defeats Rival Amherst 3-1
WILLIAMSTOWN, MA In what was perhaps the most intense game of the season, the Williams College volleyball team (10-4) earned a 3-1 (25-23, 25-15, 25-15, 25-20) victory over their rival Amherst College. After the dropping a tough first set to the Lord Jeffs, the Ephs came back to outlast them for three straight sets.

Ephs Survive Wait, Sweep Vassar
The finals of the mens ITA championship and inclement weather forced the start of the Williams womens match against Vassar to be delayed nearly three hours. The defending champion Ephs, however, showed few signs of ill effect from the delay, sweeping Vassar 9-0 en route to their sixth consecutive victory, a streak that dates back to last spring.

Alotta Triumphs in Regional Championship; Doubles Falls Just Short
Sophomore Kristin Alotta has arrived on the collegiate tennis scene. After losing only one match last season, playing as the number three player for the Ephs, Alotta has emerged as the preeminent player in the region. Alotta captured the ITA Northeast regional tournament championship today, defeating the defending champion Julia Browne of Tufts 6-1, 6-1 in the final.

The two-time defending NCAA champion Williams women's tennis team opened its fall season in fine fashion today in the Northeast Regional ITA tournament at MIT.
