Williams and Amherst SAACs to Compete for Benefit of Local Food Banks

On Friday, February 8th the Williams College and Amherst College men’s and women’s basketball teams will participate in a doubleheader in Chandler Gym on the campus of Williams College. The men’s game will start at 6:00 PM and be followed by the women’s contest at 8:00 PM. Technically it will not be a tripleheader, however, another competition has been added to this tradition-rich rivalry between Williams and Amherst.

The Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) at Williams and the Amherst SAAC are staging a fundraising competition from now until the end of the men’s game on February 8th. Both schools will be raising funds to support a local food bank.

The winner of this competition will be the SAAC group that raises the most money for its local food bank, but the real winners will be the local food banks that receive the funds raised by the schools.

At Williams the SAAC will be manning a table in Paresky from 12-2:00 PM beginning on Monday, February 4 and running through Friday, February 8th to collect donations.

In addition, Williams SAAC co-presidents Grace Rehnquist and Jennie Harding, both members of the Eph women’s hoop team, and Eph SAAC social chairman Caroline Wilson (swimming) will have SAAC members manning donation boxes at the entrance to Chandler Gym.

Eph fans are encouraged to dig deep to support the local food bank and to support the Williams SAAC fundraising effort.

Go Ephs!
