SERIES: Began in 1890 and Williams leads 48-15-5.

The Ephs have won 15 consecutive games against the Polar Bears. The last Williams win came in 2006 in Williamstown, 27-0.

Bowdoin's last win was 7-0 in 1979 on Weston Field.

COACHES: Mike Whalen (20-4) is in his fourth year as the Williams head coach. Whalen was previously the Ephs' head wrestling coach from 1996 to 2003, and the offensive line coach for the same span, including the last three with years as offensive coordinator.

Whalen guided the 2006 Ephs to the sixth perfect season in Williams history, extending the current Eph win streak to 14 and earning NESCAC Coach of the Year honors. He was also the only New England coach to finish in the top 25 in Liberty Mutual's Coach of the Year program among coaches in all divisions of college football.

Whalen, a 1983 graduate of Wesleyan University, captained both the football and wrestling teams while earning All-New England and All-American honors three times. Whalen’s football coaching resume also includes stops at Springfield, Penn, Lafayette, and Colgate.

Bowdoin's Dave Caputi (12-44) is in his eighth season as the Polar Bears' head coach. Caputi, a 1981 Middlebury graduate, joined the Bowdoin staff in 2000 after serving as the offensive coordinator at Williams under former Eph head coach Dick Farley. He also coached the Eph softball team during his 13 years in Williamstown. Prior to coaching at Williams, Caputi coached at both Tufts and Amherst.

STREAKS: Bowdoin enters the 2007 season opener with a two-game win streak having closed out the 2006 season with wins over Bates and Colby to win the CBB title.
