Ryan Lupo & Scott Sobolewski collect NESCAC honors in win over Middlebury
HADLEY, MA -- Williams junior running back Ryan Lupo (Princeton Jct., NJ) was named the NESCAC Offensive Player of the Week for his role in the Ephs’ 37-27 conquest of Middlebury on the road. Lupo went over the century mark on the ground for the third straight week as he gained 136 yards on 37 carries (3.6) and scored three TDs. His three-yard run with 2:12 to play put the Ephs up by 10 points (two scores) and helped put away the Panthers. Lupo also caught one pass for a 19-yard gain.

(106.2) and he leads the Ephs in scoring with 30 points.

Senior placekicker Scott Sobolewski (Clifton Park, NY) claimed NESCAC Special Teams Player of the Week honors for connecting on all three of his field goal attempts (36, 29 and 28) and all four of his PATs in the win at Middlebury. He also averaged 45.0 yards per kickoff.
Sobolewksi has 25 points on the year, hitting on five of seven field goal attempts and converting all 10 of his PATs.
The Ephs return home this Saturday to tangle with Tufts University at 1:30 PM on Weston Field. At halftime the Ephs will receive their 13th Directors’ Cup emblematic of athletic supremacy in NCAA Division III. The 2008-09 academic year marked the 11th consecutive year the Ephs won the Directors’ Cup and the 13th time in the 14 years it has been presented.
