BABSON PARK, Mass. – Williams four-year starting point guard Chris Shalvoy (Rochester, NY) has been selected to play in the New England Basketball Coaches Association (NEBCA) Senior All-Star Game. The game will be played Sunday at 3:00 pm at Babson College.

Panthers end Ephs' Season, 96-59
Utterly obscene second half shooting propelled the host Panthers of Middlebury College (20-6, 6-3) to a win over Williams (17-9, 4-5) in the first round of the NESCAC tournament Saturday. The Panthers shot 63% in the second half to blow open the game in the second half, and finished the game shooting 58% from the floor.

Ephs Cruise to Victory on Senior Day
The Williams men’s basketball team (17-7, 4-5) closed out a much-needed weekend with another win, beating Wesleyan (8-16, 1-8) by a score of 87-57. The Ephs again dominated the glass, and built a lead of more than 20 points by halftime.

The Williams men’s basketball team (16-7, 3-5) ended their losing streak with a 60-56 victory over Connecticut College (16-7, 3-5) Friday. The Ephs trailed for the majority of the game, but hit shots when it counted to steal the win.

Eph slide grows to five with loss to Tufts
The Williams men’s basketball team (15-7, 2-5) dropped their fifth straight game Saturday, 93-68 to Tufts (11-11, 1-6). Both teams entered the game on four game losing streaks, however the Jumbos played as if they were due in displaying exceptionally hot shooting to end their slump.

Ephs offensive woes continue, drop fourth in a row
It was an exercise in contrast Friday night in Maine as the Williams men’s basketball team (15-6, 2-4) fell for the fourth straight game to host Bates (15-5, 4-2), who earned their seventh straight victory with the 78-71 win.

Williams drops close one to Middlebury, 63-60
The Williams men’s basketball team (15-5, 2-3) dropped their third in a row on Saturday to conference opponent Middlebury (15-4, 3-2). Williams played the Panthers close for the majority of the forty-minute game, however the Ephs were unable to counter some clutch Panther shots late in the contest. The defeat marked the first time Middlebury has beaten the Ephs in Williamstown since 1989.

Stingy Defense Dooms Ephs, 60-56
he Williams men’s basketball team (15-4, 2-3) dropped a heartbreaker in central New York, losing to Hamilton (11-4, 5-1) by a score of 60-56. The Ephs had the ball with 22 seconds left and a chance to take the lead down 57-56 when a surprising illegal screen was called off the ball, giving Hamilton the ball and allowing them to eventually seal the win.

Ephs run cold, fall to Amherst 86-70
The Williams men’s basketball team (15-3, 2-2) fell to the rival Amherst Lord Jeffs (15-2, 4-0) for the second time this season, 86-70. The defending national champion and 3rd-ranked Lord Jeffs once again had too many weapons for the Ephs, hitting some clutch threes in both halves to take the win.

Williams stifles Trinity, 65-48
The Williams men’s basketball team (15-2, 2-1) pulled away from the Bantams of Trinity College (13-3, 2-1) in the second half for a 65-48 win Friday night. Tough defense sealed the deal for Williams, as the Ephs held the Bantams to just 29% shooting on the night.

Big Men Lead Ephs Over Mules
The Williams men’s basketball team (14-2, 1-1) got out of Maine with a win Saturday, 67-61 over the Mules of Colby College (9-7, 0-2). Big men Joe Geoghegan and Matt Weisbrot combined for 33 points on an incredible 21 for 21 from the free throw line to lead the Ephs, who trailed for most of the game, to victory.

Polar Bears upset Ephs in Maine
The Williams men’s basketball team (13-2, 0-1) lost for the second time in their last three games Friday night, falling to Bowdoin (13-2, 1-0) 78-73. Senior Eph point guard Chris Shalvoy notched a season-high 30 points, but the Polar Bears put all five starters in double-digits to take the win.

Second half run propels Ephs past Lasers, 75-65
WILLIAMSTOWN, MA—After a shaky first half, the Ephs (13-1) upped their defensive pressure to rally past Lasell College (4-7) in the second half in a 75-65 win Tuesday night. Eph sophomore Joe Geoghegan had a monster night, scoring 21 points on 8 of 12 shooting (including three dunks) and grabbing 12 rebounds.

In a hard-fought non-conference match up, the defending national champion Lord Jeffs (10-3) prevailed at home over the Ephs (12-1), 87-80. It was the 195th match up of the rivalry, with Williams now leading 111-84 after the loss.

Williams (12-0) beat back a scrappy Nichols squad (3-8) on Sunday during the championship game of the Williams Invitational. Senior Eph co-captain Chris Rose knocked down 4 of 4 from three-point land in the second half to spur Williams to victory, 83-66.

The Williams men’s basketball team (10-0) toughed out a solid win Wednesday, beating the Keene St. Owls (6-4) at home. The Ephs showed great poise against a physical Owl team, and the game was much closer than the 86-66 score suggested.

The Williams men's basketball team (8-0) picked up right where they left off before winter break with a win over Lehman College (4-7) on Saturday. The loss was Lehman's first this season on their home court.

The Williams men’s basketball team (7-0) stayed perfect Saturday with a win over Springfield College (2-4), 71-66. Though neither team shot over 40% from the field, the Ephs’ impressive plus-12 rebounding advantage and ability to get to the free throw line once again led them to victory.

Just like in their home opener, the Ephs (6-0) came out firing on Saturday. Unlike the opener though, they were firing and making. SVC (1-4)– already smarting from a three game losing streak – was essentially run out of the gym in the first half, as the Ephs were hitting on all cylinders.

Ephs Avenge Last Year's Loss; Rose Honored
With a strong second half the Williams men’s basketball team (5-0) stopped history from repeating itself Tuesday night with a win over Framingham State (3-3). After being down 26-16 at the half the Ephs opened with a 22-9 run to start the second half and held on to win, 60-56.

Ephs Beat RPI 75-65, Finish Road Trip 4-0
The Williams men’s basketball team (4-0) battled to a 75-65 victory over RPI (1-2), getting to the foul line 24 times in the second half. On the day Williams attempted 21 more free throws than the Red Hawks, and the second half surge from the charity stripe played a key role in the Ephs overcoming a one point deficit at the half.

Williams Owns Glass, Beats Wesleyan 61-51
Despite shooting just 38% from the field, the Williams men’s basketball team improved its record to 3-0 with a win over Little Three foe Wesleyan (0-3) in Middletown, 61-51. Sophomore big man Joe Geohegan scored 17 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, leading the Ephs in both categories while only playing 27 minutes.

For the second straight night a balanced scoring attack propelled the Ephs (2-0) to victory. With four players scoring in double-figures, Williams dispatched the host Drew University Rangers (1-1) by a score of 74-58 in the championship of the Rose City Classic.

The Williams men’s basketball team (1-0) started off on the right foot Friday, beating Ursinus College (0-1) by a score of 88-73 in their first game of the season. The game was part of the first round of games at the Rose City Classic hosted by Drew University.

Returning all five starters and several key reserves from a team that peaked at the end of the 2006-2007 campaign to win its third conference championship in the past five years, the Williams College Ephmen are hoping for a break-out season in 2007-2008.
