Williams Holds Overnight Lead at Bowdoin Invite

Brunswick, ME – The Williams College men's golf team kicked off its fall season today in the first round of the Bowdoin Invitational at Brunswick Golf Club.  Conditions were challenging, as twelve schools dealt with swirling winds around 30 miles per hour all afternoon.  There were no first round jitters for the 2012-2013 Ephs, as they debuted with a solid team score of 306.  This puts Williams in first place, seven strokes ahead of second place Husson University, who fired a 313.  St. Anselm College is in third after its 318 Saturday.

A pair of juniors set the tone for Williams today.  Both Jake Abrahams and Ross Bowen carded rounds of three-over par 75.  Sophomore Jake Goldenring closely followed them with 76.  Senior captain Jack Ervasti returned to the lineup after a long recovery from wrist surgery, and rounded out scoring for the Ephs with 80.  Junior Dylan Dethier did well to battle after making a 10 on his second hole; he finished with 82.

The final round will resume tomorrow, weather permitting.  Williams will be in the final wave with Husson, St. Anselm, and Endicott, with tee times beginning at 11:00 A.M.
