New Hartford, NY-- In its last event of the fall, Williams traveled to central New York for the Hamilton Invitational, hosted by Hamilton College. Today, the field played at Yahnundasis Golf Club, a challenging par-71 track. Playing coniditons were quite difficult; golfers faced temperatures in the low 50's and rain for spurts during the round.
The Ephs hold a two-shot lead over Rpi and an eight-shot lead over third place NYU heading tinto Sunday'sfinals round.
All four of the Eph top scorers, including two freshman, finished the day in the top ten.
"Great job in very challenging weather today - rain, high winds and very cool temperatures," noted Eph head coach Rick Pohle.
Individually, two freshmen, Tony Liu and Mike Stone. Lia was consistent all day on his way to a four-over 75, while Mike Stone and junior Dylan Dethier continued their fine form this fall, each posting twin 77's.
Junior Matt McCarron rounded out the score for the squad with a 78 and sophomore Jake Goldenring struggled to get something going in his round; he finished with 82.
"It was nice to see everyone stay focused and work to produce a quality score. Outstanding effort by our two first year players who were playing in their first away varsity match."
The two-day event will switch over to Skenandoa Golf Course tomorrow, where play will begin with a 10 A.M. shotgun.
