Ephs score four unanswered goals, defeat St. Anslem 4-3 in overtime

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Williams College men's hockey team
rallied from a three goal deficit with four unanswered goals to
defeat St. Anselm College 4-3 in overtime Saturday. The win marks
the second game in as many days that the Ephs overcame a late
deficit to avoid defeat, and earns the Ephs their first win in five
games.
On paper the two teams appeared to have played a fairly even match
over the course of the games first two periods, with the Hawks
holding a slight edge in shots at 17 to the Ephs 13. However, the
Hawks made the most of their opportunities in the games first two
periods, turning an even game into a formidable 3-0 lead by the end
of the second period.
However, the third period saw a complete role reversal as the Ephs
scored three goals of their own over a three minute period off of
shots from Brandon Jackmuff, Andrew Lepore, and Zach Miller. Making
the comeback even more remarkable is the Ephs only recorded eight
shots on the period.
“I'm really proud of the kids ability to bounce back from a
bad start for the second straight night.” remarked Eph Coach
Bill Kangas, “The kids never gave up and really took
advantage of our opportunities in the third period.”
The Ephs would carry their momentum into the overtime, where
Brandon Jackmuff would exploit the power play and record his second
goal of the game only 4:16 into the period, giving the Ephs the
improbable 4-3 victory.
The Ephs improve to 1-0-1 halfway through their four game road
trip, the next installment of which will be next Friday, January
1st, against Trinity at 7:00 PM.
