Justin Troiani Named First Team CCM Hockey All-American

LAKE PLACID, NY – Williams College senior defenseman and co-captain Justin Troiani (Woodbridge, ONT) has been named a First Team Division III CCM Hockey All-American in voting by the members of the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA).

CCM is the legendary hockey brand dedicated to the endless pursuit of performance by delivering game-changing, head-to-toe innovative hockey equipment to players worldwide

Troiani is the eighth Eph ice hockey All-American to play for head coach Bill Kangas and the first since Alex Smigelski was honored in 2010.

Previously Troiani earned First Team All-NESCAC honors as a freshman and as a senior.

"Going into this season we knew we were going to have to rely on our defense and senior leadership and Justin stepped up and had a career year," said Bill Kangas. "He has all the tools. He can defend. Opponents always had to account for him joining the rush out of the defensive end."

Troiani played 93 games in the Purple Valley, tallying 20 times and assisting on 41 goals for a career point total of 61.

"It's a great honor for Justin to be recognized by the coaches in the East, but he also knows he would not have been recognized without the contributions of his teammates," added Kangas. "To his credit he made everyone around him a better player with his leadership skills and being a supportive teammate."

In 26 games this winter Troiani accounted for 23 points, notching nine goals and a team high 15 assists. This season's goals and assists mark career bests for Troiani and tied him for the team lead in points with sophomore forward Nick Anderson.

Troinai's 24 points in 2011-12 ranked him second among NESCAC defensemen. His 15 assists tied him for third in NESCAC among defensemen.
