Former Eph goalie and assistant men's soccer coach Eric Watson '97 helped the U.S. Under 23 Women's National Soccer Team capture the prestigious Nordic Cup Tournament in Borlange, Sweden at the end of July.

The U.S. won all four games in the Nordic Cup via shutout. The U.S. opened with a 1-0 win over Switzerland and then blanked England 3-0 and Norway 2-0 to advance to the championship game vs. Germany.

The U.S. took the title with a convincing 3-0 win over Germany. You can read about each U.S. victory on the U.S. Soccer website here.

Watson's collegiate coaching career began at Williams where he assisted Eph soccer coaching legend Mike Russo from 1998-2000, before moving on to the University of Richmond for two years. While assisting the Richmond Spiders Watson also earned a master's degree in sports leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University.

From Richmond Watson headed to the West coast where he served as the head coach of men's and women's soccer for Linfield University (OR) for five years before heading back East.

Watson is entering his second season as the head coach of the SUNY New Paltz men's soccer team this fall.
