Ephs Gain Valuable Experience at Dartmouth Shootout

Hanover, New Hampshire -- The Ephs tennis team traveled up to the Dartmouth Shootout with one goal in mind, gaining experience for their younger players. Wins were in short supply at many freshman and sophomores got their first taste of topflight college competition from many highly ranked Division I and III programs.
The young Ephs were outmatched by a talented field of teams including: Dartmouth, Colgate, Army, and Amherst. The Ephs were entered in eight singles flights and four doubles flights. Williams' inexperience was evident as few of their entrants were able to advance in their draws. Even though wins were hard to come by, the Ephs' heart and determination was on display all weekend. The squad refused to quit as they took many matches to three sets. Their grit is a representation of the qualities that have come to personify the Eph seniors over their successful four years in Williamstown, success that will undoubtedly be built upon during the spring season.
Second year coach Dave Donn took the results in stride, "The Dartmouth Shootout was a great opportunity for us to give our inexperienced guys a chance to show what they can do against some of the best players in the country. The wins and losses do not accurately portray the value of this experience; we are a far deeper team now than we were when we began the weekend."
Now the Ephs must begin tuning up for the spring season which is only a few short months away.
