Macklin Chaffee named top New England track athlete of the season

Williams junior middle distance runner Macklin Chaffee (Chagrin
Falls, OH) was named the 2008 Division III New England outdoor
track and field athlete by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross
Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA).
Chaffee started slowly this spring finishing third in the 1,500 at
the NESCAC Championships (3:54.51) and then he lowered his time to
3:52.78 at the New England Division III Championships. He also took
third in the 800 at New England Division III Championships in
1:54.50.
Chaffee then continued his improvement at the University of New
Hampshire, at the All-New England Meet, which featured teams from
Division I, II and III. He topped the field crossing the finishing
line in 3:51.70.
Advancing to the finals of the 1,500 at the NCAA Division III
Championships at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Chaffee saved
his best for last. He finished second in 3:47.43 to set the
Williams record and earned All-America honors.
