Hanover, NH – The Williams College ski team placed sixth in
the Dartmouth College Carnival with an overall team score of 503
points.
The men’s Alpine team placed fourth in the slalom race with
a team score of 80 points. Senior Charles Christianson won the race
with a first run of 46.31 and a second run time of 46.83. Tavis
Moonan, senior, placed 16th with a first run time of 49.54 and a
second run time of 47.74. Alex Dyroff placed 18th with a first run
time of 49.96 and a second run of 47.58. Eric Mann, junior, placed
25th with a first run time of 50.72 and a second run time of
49.39.
Top finishers for the Ephs on the women team include Emily Porter,
sophomore, tied for 18th place with a first run time of 49.87 and a
second run time of 59.64. Junior Kelly Kirkpatrick placed 21st with
a first run of 51.39 and a second run of 59.45. Sophomore Kelsey
Levine placed 21st with a first run time of 51.80 and a second run
time of 59.61. The women placed sixth overall in the race with 58
points.
Alpine team captain Christianson noted that this weekend makes
four race wins in a row for the men’s side and said that it
was a, “really good weekend for skiing with good conditions
and the team’s excited to go out next weekend and kick some
butt.”

In the men’s Nordic 20K classic race, Ephs placed ninth with
33 points. Evan Dethier, freshman, placed 41st with a race time of
1:07:16.6. Senior Scott McClelland placed 44th with a time of
1:07:37.8. Sam Kapala, junior, placed 45th with a time of
1:08:06.0.
Freshman Kirsten Johnson led the women’s side in their 15K
classic race, placing 12th with a race time of 55:26.6. Alice
Nelson, sophomore, placed 31st with a time of 58:46.1. Fiona
Worcester, junior, placed 35th with a race time of 59:15.5.
Overall, the lady Ephs placed seventh in the race with 54
points.
Dartmouth College won the carnival with an overall team score of
725 points. The Ephs are hosting their next carnival at Williams
College. The carnival begins Friday, February 15th, with the
women’s 5K freestyle a 10am.
