Williamstown, MA – The Williams College ski team placed fifth in their hosted winter carnival with a team score of 498 points. The Alpine team had their slalom races while the Nordic team had their classic three by three relay races.

The Alpine men’s team placed second in the slalom race with an overall team score of 75 points. Senior team captain Charles Christianson placed second in the race with a first run of 44.60 and a second run time of 46.95. Tavis Moonan, senior, placed ninth with a first run time of 45.46 and a second run of 48.83. Junior Eric Mann placed 16th with a first run time of 48.41 and a second run of 48.15. Alex Dyroff, sophomore, placed 24th with a first run time of 57.01 and a second run of 48.34. Eirik Buraas, junior, placed 31st with a first run time of 1:00.65 and a second run time of 53.71.

Top finisher for the Ephs on the women’s Alpine team was Kelsey Levine, sophomore, placing 12th with a first run of 50.37 and a second run time of 50.63. Emily Porter, sophomore, placed 15th with a first run of 50.23 and a second run time of 51.23. Freshman Annie Hanson placed 18th with a first run time of 51.59 and a second run time of 51.93. Sylvia Semper, senior, placed 26th with a first run time of 52.89 and a second run time of 54.73. Overall the women placed sixth with a team score of 57 points.

The men’s Nordic team placed seventh overall in the classic three by three relay with a team score of 52 points. The top finishing group for the Ephs included freshman Evan Dethier, junior team captain Sam Kapala and freshman Keith Kantack. The group placed eighth out of twenty teams with a total race time was 28:24. The second group for the Ephs included sophomore Alexander Taylor, sophomore Mark Johnson and freshman Caleb Lucy. Taylor, Johnson and Lucy placed 15th with a total team run time of 29:17.6.

Top finishing group for the Ephs in the women’s classic three by three race was made up of sophomore Alice Nelson, junior Fiona Worcester and freshman Kirsten Johnson. The group finished fourth out of nineteen teams with a total team race time of 33:08.6. The women’s second group consisted of freshman Gabrielle Joffee, sophomore Alessandra DeMarchis and junior Emily Olsen. The team placed 14th with a total team time of 5:36.8. The women’s Nordic team placed fourth overall with 73 points in the race.

The Ephs’ next carnival will be the Middlebury Carnival held on February 22 and 23rd in Middlebury, Vermont. The races begin Friday, the 22nd, with the first run of the men’s slalom beginning at 9:30am.
