Ephs Take 1st Place at Wellesley

Wellesley, MA—The Williams Women’s golf team finished in first place at Wellesley’s Second Annual Ann S. Batchelder Golf Invitational today. Due to poor weather conditions, play for tomorrow was cancelled, leaving today’s scores final.

The Ephs shot a 337 cumulative score, four strokes ahead of Amherst. The team was led by freshman Victoria Student with an 81, which tied Student for 2^nd overall. Seniors Anne O’Leary and Mary Gelber tied for 5^th with scores of 84, while Becky Miller and Aliza Shatzman rounded out the team, each with a score of 88.

Coach DeSanty said, “Our focus going into today was to play as if it were the final round on Sunday, with a greater sense of urgency and importance on every shot. We did this very well and made some incredibly impressive shots.” It is clear that the Eph strategy paid off.

DeSanty also remarked, “Our team has worked so hard all season to earn our first victory. Today, more than ever, they played for and depending on each other. We consistently improved this fall, and though I am sad to see this portion of our season come to a close, I am thrilled with the way it has ended.”
