Union runs past Ephs, 16-7

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Union College used its speed to run past the Williams College women's lacrosse team Sunday in the Spring Fling, 16-7.

The Ephs fell to 2-1 on the season. They are scheduled to play conference for Colby Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.

"Their entire team was fast," Ephs head coach Chris Mason said. "They were fast and they handled the ball beautifully. It was very tough to stay with them."

Williams was held off the scoreboard until 13 minutes remained in the first half. Britt Spackman, who had two goals and one assist in the loss, scored the first goal off an assist from Tina Nawrocki, who also had two goals and one assist in the loss.

Tina Nawrocki scored two straight Williams goals, the second assisted by Tracey Ferriter, and Spackman scored an unassisted goal before halftime, but the Ephs trailed at the break, 11-4.

Williams senior Allison Murray scored twice in the second half, and sophomore Alice Nelson capped the scoring for Williams with an unassisted goal.

Eph first-year Julia Schreiber made 11 saves, gamely playing 60 minutes after suffering an injury late in the first half.
