Steve Kuster was a two-time All-American at the University of Pennsylvania (where he still holds four varsity records).  In 1992, he was a consolation finalist in the 200-meter butterfly at the US Olympic Trials.  After graduating in 1993, he was selected to the United States National Team and represented the country at the World University Games.

Prior to his appointment at Williams, Kuster spent three years as the men’s assistant coach at Harvard University.  There he helped lead the Crimson to three Ivy League titles and an 11th place finish at the 1998 NCAAs. Kuster also received a Master’s Degree in Education from Harvard University.

Kuster and his wife Kim reside in Williamstown with their two young sons, Cole and Tate.




Dave Polen

Assistant Coach of Men's/Women's Swimming

Dave Polen has been with the Williams program for eight years.
Polen gradated from Potsdam [NY] College was raised in Pittsford, NY, where he received a BS in Mathematics.

Polen was a 3-year letter winner and swam on two SUNYAC Championship Teams at Potsdam.

As the coach of the Bennington Marauders he developed several New England Champions across several age groups including one with a national top 16 time.

Raised n Pittsford, NY, Polen currently resides in Bennington, VT and teaches math at Mount Anthony Union High School.

His son Jon (12) can be seen around the pool when he is not playing football, hockey or baseball.




Kit Koch

Men's/Women's Diving Coach

Kit Callahan Koch has been at Williams since 1992.

Koch has been named the National Women's Division III Coach of the Year three and NESCAC Diving Coach of the Year five times.

Four of Koch's Eph divers have won NCAA titles, including Rachel Gealy '04 who won the 1-meter event was named NCAA Diver of the Meet.

When Kit Callahan Koch began at Williams there was one women's diver and no men's divers on campus. She has elevated the Williams diving program to national recognition producing 36 All-Americans and four NCAA champions.

A 1986 graduate of the University of Maine, Koch earned All-America honors on the three-meter board and Honorable Mention All-America honors in both the one- and three-meter competitions.
