
CAMBRIDGE, MA – After a three day marathon of matches, number-one seeded pair of Rebecca Curran and Kara Shoemaker officially earned their number one rank as they were crowned champions of the USTA/ITA Regional Championships. The other top seed in the singles draw, LokSze Leung (Middlebury), also won.
2012 marks the second year in a row that Kara Shoemaker has won the USTA/ITA New england Doubles Crown, teaming up last year with Nancy Worley.
Rebecca Curran was the last Eph remaining in the singles tournament today, squaring off against Ria Gerger (Middlebury). Gerger defeated Curran 6-4, 6-2. This made for an all-Middlebury final between 6th seed Gerger and 1st seed Leung. Leung ultimately won the contest 6-0, 6-0. This was the second year in a row that Leung has taken home the title.
