Rebecca Curran and Kara Shoemaker come away with 3rd place National Finish

MOBILE, AL – The National Small College Championships continued today, as Eph pair of Curran/Shoemaker competed for the DIII Doubles National title. 

 In the Semi-finals, Curran/Shoemaker were competing against #1 seed Clark/Taylor from Emory.  After winning the first set 6-7(4) they fell in the next two 6-4 and 10-8.  Although this eliminated them from the Championship match, they still had the ability to claim a 3rd place finish.  They did just that, defeating Lawless/Roberg of Whitman 6-2, 6-1.

In the Finals, Clark/Taylor (Emory) are set to play against Buell/Cahill (Washington & Lee) who dispatched two seeded teams to earn they place in the Finals.  They defeated 3rd ranked Scotten/Wade (UC Santa Cruz) in the Quarters and Lawless/Roberg (Whitman) in the Semis.  The winner of this match will be crowned Champion of the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships.
