CLAREMONT, CA -- Williams College sophomore Amina Avril had a second strong performance in as many days Friday at the 2012 NCAA Div. III Outdoor Track & Field championships.

Avril's second to last throw of the day produced a toss of 181 feet, 2 inches in the hammer event, giving her third place. Avril's third place effort broke the Eph record in the hammer of 179 feet, five inches launched by Brenda Start in 1997. Paired with her fourth-place finish in the discus Thursday makes Avril a two-event All-American.

It also helped Williams into fourth place (11 points) in the team standings after the second day. Avril has scored all 11 of those points for the Ephs.

In the only other event on the day with an Eph in it, Tanasia Hoffler placed fifth in Heat 2 of the 110 hurdles in a time of 14.44 seconds and placed 14th overall. She did not advance to Saturday's finals.
