On June 1, 2024, Acting Athletic Director Carolyn Miles, and the athletic department hosted the annual Senior Athlete Reception at the ’62 Center for Theatre and Dance. This program recognized all senior athletes who participated with Williams College sport teams during the 2023-2024 season and presented seven individual honors to deserving student athletes.
Miles remarks included, “Athletic pursuits provide us with so many memories, the days you shared at practice, the jokes, the tears, and the secret moments only team members know. The hard work that forged those bonds is one that will not easily be broken.
As graduating seniors, you have all left your mark on Williams College from both an academic and athletic perspective. You showed that the word “student” comes first in student-athlete as 116 of you received NESCAC All-Academic Team honors during your time wearing the purple and gold. Many of you receiving those honors multiple times. There was also an abundance of success in between the lines: on the different sports venues and you represented the college with great determination, pride and sportsmanship. From 2020 through 2024, there were a total of 68 NCAA Tournament appearances for Eph sports across 22 different programs. During that same time period, Williams’ programs won 19 NESCAC Championships over nine different sports.
Team is always the most important, but we also had some tremendous individual performances. We had 61 NESCAC All-Conference First Team selections, 38 Second Team honorees and 25 Third Team members. Additionally, the Ephs received 10 distinguished awards from the NESCAC, which included two most outstanding performers in cross country, rookie of the year in cross country, player of the year in women’s soccer, swimmer of the year, two career high-point swimming awards, defensive player of the year in volleyball, rookie of the year in women’s golf and rookie of the year in men’s lacrosse.”
