Students must complete four quarters of physical education by the end of the sophomore year. Students must enroll in at least two different activities in fulfilling the requirement. Participation in an intercollegiate sport is equivalent to two activity credits per year. A maximum of three credits may be attained while participating in intercollegiate sports with the exception of a two-sport athlete who can fulfill the physical education requirement by totaling four credits in two sports.
Additionally physical education credits may be earned through PE activity courses, outing club classes, club sports, JV sports or dance departments classes and ensembles.
Swim Test Requirement
A swim test is required of all first-year students at the start of the academic year. Students who fail to complete the test must enroll in a beginner swim class given in the physical education program during their first year. The swim test is 25 yards of front crawl and 25 yards backstroke.
