Dear Alumni, Parents, and Eph Fans,

Happy New Year! We are having a thoroughly enjoyable year in the Williams Athletic Department. Our athletes continue to exemplify the very best in scholar athletes weathering the arctic temperatures as they participate in a variety of winter study classes and projects.

This fall saw a number of tremendous highlights. Congratulations to our three  NESCAC Championship teams:  Women’s Cross Country, Golf, and Women’s Soccer!

Pete Farwell was named NESCAC Coach of the Year for Women’s Cross Country and in December was inducted into the USTFCCCA Hall of Fame (watch).

Cordelia Chan was named the NESCAC Golfer of the Year.

Second year Football Coach Mark Raymond was named NESCAC Coach of the Year and first year quarterback Bobby Maimaron was named NESCAC Rookie of the Year.

Men’s Soccer and Track & Field standout, Tobias Muellers, became the first Eph in at least the past 29 years to make two different Academic All-American teams at Williams (Third Team Academic All-American in Soccer and First Team Academic All-American in Track & Field).

The fall finished off with Women’s Soccer winning the National Championship and a host of honors, including:

Earlier in the fall many former women’s lacrosse and field hockey players returned to Williamstown to celebrate the retirement of Chris Mason. On that day Williams was presented with its 20th Director’s Cup following the Williams/Amherst Field Hockey game.

Winter seasons are well underway and we hope you can make it to a contest! Our schedules will tell you if we are playing near you, and remember to check out where spring teams are heading for break. You may find them near your town.

I look forward to seeing you in the new year.

Best wishes,

Lisa Melendy
Director of Athletics
