Dear Alumni, Parents and Eph Fans,
Spring is trying to find its way to the Berkshires, and we can’t wait! Our spring teams are gearing up for exciting playoff runs in the NESCAC and NCAA Tournaments.
Before we talk about the spring championship season, let’s pay tribute to the many great winter accomplishments which saw 189 student-athletes named to the 2025 NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team. Williams earned 20 All-Conference First Team selections, 22 Second Team honorees and 13 Third Team nods.
In men’s and women’s swimming & diving, Steve Kuster, Allie Clark, Brandon Pearson and James Singewald were named NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year. Pearson was also recognized as men’s diving coach of the year. Both swimming programs won the NESCAC Championship.
On the men’s side, Oliver Schalet ’25 and Carter Anderson ’25 finished first and second, respectively, in the NESCAC career high-point swimmers category, while Haochen Liu ’27 was recognized as the conference’s Diver of the Year. Sophia Verkleeren ‘25 was named the NESCAC Swimmer of the Year and earned first-place recognition in the career high-point swimmers list, while Charlotte Wishnack ‘25 was second.
The men’s basketball program recorded a thrilling 56-51 victory at then-No. 6-ranked Trinity in the regular season. Women’s ice hockey defeated No. 1-ranked Middlebury, 4-1, at Lansing Chapman Rink. Women’s basketball outlasted No. 9-ranked Gettysburg, 58-54, and men’s ice hockey went 2-0 against Tufts and Connecticut College.
The men’s and women’s squash teams reached the semifinals of the NESCAC tournament, with 8-0 and 7-1 regular season conference records , respectively. Wrestling finished fourth out of 18 at the NCAA northeast regional, while Peter Kane ’26 and Jamie Evarts ’28 represented the program at the national championship. The team also finished first out of 14 at the RIT Invitational.
The women’s track and field team placed first at the Division III New England championship and seventh at the NCAA indoor championship. Captain Oscar Newman ‘25 (400-meter dash) and Vincent VanMaaren ‘27 (pole vault) earned All-American Second Team laurels in their respective events at the NCAA championship.
Chloe Aust ’25 and Chloe Lathrop ’27 represented Williams at the NCAA alpine skiing championship and Keelan Durham ’25 competed for the nordic team.
Baseball finished the NESCAC regular season 7-5, sweeping Wesleyan and Hamilton in their three-game series. The Ephs will be the third seed in the west division for the NESCAC playoffs and on May 3 and 4, will play a best-2-of-3 series at the east division second seed Bowdoin.
Softball is 11-5 in the NESCAC, battling for playoff positioning with two regular season games remaining against Hamilton. The Ephs are currently the second seed in the NESCAC: the top seed hosts the conference tournament on May 9-11.
Men’s lacrosse defeated three ranked opponents this season, including No. 6 Amherst, 9-6.. Women’s lacrosse defeated No. 11 Pomona-Pitzer, 16-6, and No. 15 Trinity, 11-5.
Men’s crew won the Little Three Championship on Lake Onota in Pittsfield, Mass. Women’s crew finished first in the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, and Third Varsity Eight during the Skidmore sprints. Both teams will compete in the New England Rowing Championship on May 3 and National Invitational Rowing Championship/NESCAC Championship on May 11. The women’s team hopes to compete in the NCAA Championship on May 29-31 and the men’s squad strives to earn a bid to the IRA National Championship on May 30-31.
Jack Estrella of men’s golf earned medalist honors during the Williams Spring Invitational and women’s golf placed first at the Williams Spring Invitational during the same days. Women’s golf competes in the NESCAC Championship on May 2-4 at Yahnundasis Golf Club in New Hartford, N.Y.
Women’s track and field won the NESCAC Championship and the men’s and women’s teams will host the Farley Inter-Regional Meet on May 9-10 and AARTFC Championship on May 14-15.
Men’s tennis earned the fourth seed in the NESCAC Tournament with a 7-3 conference record, and will compete against fifth-seeded Middlebury in the conference quarterfinals at Middlebury. The women’s tennis team earned sixth seed and will compete against No. 3-seeded Bowdoin in the quarterfinal round at Wesleyan.
