Rodd Lanoe

Rodd Lanoue, MA, LAT, ATC, Director of Sports Medicine

A native of nearby Adams, Massachusetts, Rodd Lanoue is a 1998 graduate of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, with a concentration in athletic training. In 2000, he earned a master’s in physical education, with a concentration in sports medicine, from Western Michigan University.

Lanoue joined the Ephs’ staff in 2006, after serving as an Assistant Professor of Physical Education at Delta College in University Center, Michigan. Prior to his time at Delta, he served as the Head Athletic Trainer at Kellogg Community College from 2000-02. He became the Director of Sports Medicine for Williams College in the fall of 2012. Lanoue, his wife, Jennifer, and son, Brodie, reside in Adams.

Yasmin Wilkinson, MS, LAT, ATC, CAFS, Associate Athletic Trainer

Yasmin Wilkinson earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Merrimack College in 2000. Following her undergraduate studies, she served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Elmira College, where she earned a Master’s in Education in 2002.

Prior to joining Williams Sports Medicine in the fall of 2007, Wilkinson served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Vassar College from 2002-07. Wilkinson and her husband, Jay, and daughter, Elly, reside in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

Jillanna Simon, MS, LAT, ATC, PES, Athletic Trainer

Jillanna Simon joined the Williams Sports Medicine team in August of 2015. She graduated from Castleton University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training followed by a Master of Science in Athletic Training in 2014 from California University of Pennsylvania.

Prior to joining Williams, Simon worked as an Athletic Trainer at Southern Vermont College, California University of Pennsylvania and with the Indiana Fire Soccer Club. She lives in Vermont with her husband.

Brian Dowling

Brian Dowling, MSAT, LAT, ATC, EMT-B, Athletic Trainer

Born and raised in the mountains of Berkshire County, Brian Dowling joined the Williams College Sports Medicine team as a full-time Athletic Trainer in August 2017.

Dowling was previously a part of the staff as the Hunter Sports Medicine Intern from 2014-17. He received his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Vermont in 2012 and earned his master’s in athletic training from Indiana Wesleyan University.

He previously worked for Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and Southern Vermont College as an Athletic Trainer prior to his time at Williams. His passions are his family, sports and the outdoors. Dowling resides in Clarksburg, Massachusetts, with his wife, Makayla, and two daughters.

Kelly Waller, MS, LAT, ATC, MBA, Athletic Trainer

Kelly Waller earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Springfield College in 2004. She went on to earn her Master of Science in Exercise Science and Sport Studies, with a concentration in athletic training, from Springfield in 2006.

Prior to joining the Williams College Sports Medicine staff in the fall of 2017, Waller served as an Athletic Trainer for Western New England University from 2006-17.

Michael Becker, LAT, ATC, Athletic Trainer

Michael Becker begins his second academic year as an Athletic Trainer for the Sports Medicine staff at Williams College in 2024-25.

Becker is a native and current resident of Bennington, Vermont, where he lives with his wife, Jamie, and daughter, Hadley. He graduated from Mount Anthony Union High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Ithaca College. Becker spent 12 years as an Athletic Trainer with the New York Yankees Minor League affiliates. Most recently, he was the Head Athletic Trainer for the Double-A Somerset Patriots in Bridgewater, New Jersey.

During his time with the Yankees Sports Medicine Department, he provided day-to-day treatments, evaluation and rehabilitation of injuries. Becker coordinated with team physicians and organizational department heads on surgical interventions and long-term rehabilitations. He also coordinated team travel and individual movement of players between cities and affiliates.

During his offseasons, he worked at Castleton University (Winter 2021) and the former Southern Vermont College (Fall 2017) as a Per Diem Athletic Trainer. Prior to joining the Yankees, he was an Intern in the Siena College Athletic Training Department from Summer 2011 – Winter 2011.

Jayden Metade, MS, ATC, Athletic Trainer

Jayden Metade begins her first academic year as an Athletic Trainer for the Sports Medicine staff at Williams College in 2024-25.

She was born and raised in Ontario, Canada. In 2022, she completed her Bachelor’s of Kinesiology at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario. Metade is thrilled to begin her career as an Athletic Trainer at Williams.

Metade began her clinical experience with the Brock Sports Medicine program as a Student Athletic Therapist for the women’s varsity rugby team for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. Her passion for sports medicine sparked, which led her to fulfill a Master of Athletic Training degree at the University at Buffalo, graduating in 2024.

During her two years at the University at Buffalo, Metade gained exceptional clinical experience as an athletic training student with the Division I football team, St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute and with the Buffalo Bills in the 2023-24 season. Metade completed her final clinical rotation with the Major League Rugby team, the New England Free Jacks, based in Quincy, Massachusetts.

Emily Sonnie MAT, LAT, ATC, Athletic Trainer

Emily Sonnie enters her first year as an Athletic Trainer for the Sports Medicine staff at Williams College in 2024-25.

She received her bachelor’s degree in science with a minor in exercise science from Gannon University in 2016. In 2018, she received her Master of Athletic Training from Gannon. Prior to Williams, Sonnie worked as a high school outreach athletic trainer in Erie, Pennsylvania, and Cleveland, Ohio. She also was a per diem athletic trainer at Edinboro University and Gannon.

Sonnie is a native of Western New York. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, two children and dogs.

Suk Namkoong

Dr. Suk Namkoong, MD, Medical Director of Athletics

Dr. Suk Namkoong is an Orthopedic Surgeon with the Orthopedic Associates of Northern Berkshire. He went to medical school at New York University School of Medicine and completed his residence at Stony Brook University Hospital. He received subspecialty training in sports medicine and arthroscopy at NYU/Hospital for Joint Diseases where he served as an Assistant Team Physician for the New York Mets and Brooklyn Cyclones. 

Dr. Namkoong is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is a past consultant for the University of Massachusetts at Amherst as well as Southern Vermont College Athletics and serves as the Team Physician for the North Adams SteepleCats.

DrHolmgren

Dr. Eric Holmgren, MD, Associate Team Physician

Dr. Eric Holmgren is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and lives in Williamstown, Massachusetts, and has cared for patients in the Berkshires and Southern Vermont since 2006. 

As a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Oregon Health Sciences University, he is a board certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Among other things, he cares for maxillofacial trauma patients in the region and has a particular interest in sports medicine. 

Dr. Holmgren has been on staff at Williams as a Sports Medicine Physician and has been assisting the athletic trainers and Williams athletes over the last 15 years. His biggest enjoyment comes from spending time with his family, traveling to Austria and speaking German with his wife, Janet, and three girls, Julia, Sophia and Mia.
